Knight horsie!

February 2002

Dear Brother Knights,
February is the Valentine month. For what ever reason, St. Valentine got associated with lovers and hearts. The explanation of that is hidden in the quirks of history. But, it does offer us a good opportunity to reflect on how we treat those who are dear to us.
Whether married, single, widowed, divorced or celibate, we all have special relationships with others that call for love and respect. For those who are in the churnings of romantic encounters it is not difficult to keep the beloved in mind and anticipate the needs of the other. For those in the calmer waters of mature relationships, or even petrified coexistence, there is a greater effort needed to keep the love glowing and the care for the other forefront in your minds.
Use this month to let those special people know that you really love them. Not just on February 14th but in the days leading up to it and following it. Invent ways to surprise the other with unexpected messages of caring. How many ways can you think of to say "I love you" ? How many times can you say it this month? Maybe when we say it and express it often enough it will become a good habit that will keep the caring, loving relationships in our lives healthy and strong.

God is Love,
Father Brother Jack
