Writing Workshops in Manzanita
November 7, 2009
through November 8, 2009
Presented by Manzanita Writers' Series/Hoffman Center & Manzanita Business Alliance
Link www.hoffmanblog.org

Note: The first five writers to register for both weekend workshops (at a $5 savings) will also receive a mug with the fun and inspirational Manzanita Writers’ Series logo on it.
Saturday: Do you have that novel or nonfiction work ready to present to the world, or want to be ready when it is?

Join Helen Gallagher, author of Release Your Writing: Book Publishing Your Way! at a workshop on today’s options in self-publishing.

The workshop will explore the differences between self-publishing, print-on-demand (POD), and ebooks, and analyze the benefits of each method. Attendees will leave with a list of resources and a guide to the practical matters of rights, royalties, and costs for each type of publishing.

Sunday:
Are you ready to free up your writing and pump up your creativity?
Join Susan G. Wooldridge, author of the well-loved book poemcrazy: Freeing Your Life With Words, and of the new Foolsgold: Making Something from Nothing and Freeing Your Creative Process, for a poetry-writing workshop.
As Anne Lamott said about Poemcrazy: “This is a wonderful book, smart, wide-eyed, joyful, helpful, inspiring. You're going to love it and love writing poetry more for having read it.”
In the workshop Wooldridge brings exercises from the book to life, exercises that help free up your writing, expand your range of images and words, and generally shake up your thought process.

Additional Book Events:
A workshop on “Writing the Supernatural Story for Young Writers" for writers aged 10-18 on Saturday afternoon with Mindy Hardwick.
Join your fellow writers and book lovers at book signings Saturday at both Ekahni Books (Helen Gallagher) and Cloud & Leaf Books (Susan Wooldridge) at 4pm. Then join in to hear Matt Love read from his new book, at 7pm Saturday at the Hoffman Annex, followed by an Open Mic focused on the theme of “It was a dark and stormy night.”

Calendar entries are made by our coastal cultural partners. If you have information of interest to post, "Contact Us."
